International Ship & Portfacility Security (ISPS)

Following the events of 11 September 2001, the United States initiated the "war on terrorism". A worldwide safety program was set up to combat terrorist activities in or around ports. To this end, various port authorities made additional investments to implement further safety measures. In order to recover these investments, an ISPS (International Ship & Port facility Security) surcharge applies to each shipment.
